The chairman of Super Eagles’ Supporters Club, Prince Vincent Okumagba has commended Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for what he called the soccer body’s perfect planning that helped the national team pick an early ticket to next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Okumagba was excited to see the Eagles pick the AFCON 20019 ticket with a game to spare, and put it down to proper planning by the NFF.
Okumagba, who singled out NFF president, Melvin Amaju Pinnick for showing the way in perfect organisation and preparations, said it is now imperative that the Eagles make up for missing the past two editions by doing well at Cameroon 2019 and return home with the trophy.
He went on to hail President Muhammadu Buhari for backing the NFF in the mission to put an end to five years of Nigeria’s absence from the Cup of Nations, which is also described as the continent’s soccer showpiece.
The supporters’ leader also noted how the Eagles’ players and their coach, Gernot Rohr kept calm after the match referee disallowed two of their goals in Saturday’s game.
Okumagba added: “We commend the team’s confidence, deep sense of patriotism and high level of professionalism.”
