Moses Peter Emerges Africa Scrabble Champion

Nigeria’s Scrabble national team captain, Moses Peter has emerged tops at the 2018 Africa Scrabble Championship, after finishing with highest number of points in the 13th edition at Resort Centre, Kiriyangi, Kenya.

The tournament, which featured seven nations – Nigeria, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Gambia, Tanzania, Kenya and Zambia – had 62 players in attendance.

Nigeria confirmed supremacy in the African scrabble scene by retaining both the individual and national team titles for the 12th time.

Peter justified being the world’s second best and Africa’s number one scrabble player when he defeated his opponents in a series of 30 games.

National scrabble coach, Anthony Ikolo commended the 11 players that took part in the Africa championship and for giving their best and flying high the nation’s flag in Kenya.

Ikolo added that the country’s representatives will not relent in their efforts at dominating the continent in scrabble.

He also explained that Nigeria’s success in the East Africa country could be attributed to hard work and determination to succeed by the players.
