Man Utd vs. Paris Saint-Germain

Former United defender Denis Irwin: “I think whoever we got was going to be difficult. Everyone was talking about getting Porto but I’m looking forward to it. We’ve never been to Paris which will be great for the fans. They have a lot of attacking talent. It’s the tie of the round.”

PSG head coach Thomas Tuchel: “We have the quality to win at Old Trafford. I’m confident for my team, but it’s a great test, a challenge. The round of 16 is always tough. Manchester United have a lot of experience in this competition, which they’ve won several times. I’m neither satisfied nor unsatisfied by the draw.”

Tottenham vs. Borussia Dortmund

Spurs striker Harry Kane: “Borussia Dortmund are a top side, great stadium, great support. It’s going to be tough. They are doing well this season in the Bundesliga and they look in top form. So it’s tough, but we know we’re capable of beating them as well. We had one point after three games [in the group stage] but dug deep to get through. Now it’s up to us to put in the performances home and away to try to progress further.”

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke: “This is a strong opponent. I think it will be a 50/50 tie, but our aspiration is to qualify for the quarter-finals.”

Liverpool vs. Bayern Munich

Liverpool’s German manager Jurgen Klopp: “We all know the stadium, the atmosphere will be great. It’s a really nice trip for all our supporters, it’s a wonderful city, so that’s all good. The flight is not too long and we obviously know more about German football than any other league, that’s true, but that doesn’t make a big, massive difference. In the end, the boys have to decide it on the pitch. Let’s give it a try.”

Bayern head coach Niko Kovac: “We can all be glad that this great tie has been drawn. They were the toughest team we could get. Liverpool were finalists last year and are currently top of the Premier League. They’re top favourites to win the Champions League this year, but we are FC Bayern, and Liverpool know that they have to come to us for the return leg. The odds are 50/50.”

Schalke vs. Manchester City

City director of football Txiki Begiristain: “This competition is getting hard. There are big draws and big games coming. Teams that are struggling in their league have done very well in the Champions League. German clubs are always very dangerous.”

Schalke’s former City defender Matija Nastasić: “I am happy to play against Manchester City. For me, these two games will certainly be very special, as I wore the Citizen shirt for three years.”
