Rivers State Rules Sports Festival Taekwondo Event

Rivers State have emerged top of the taekwondo event table at the 19th National Sports Festival in Abuja, with seven gold medals overall.

The Garden City outfit romped back to overtake Kano State, who earlier dominated the event four gold medals from poomsae (demonstration).

However, when kyorugi (fighting) began, Rivers took over and went on to haul in seven gold, while Kano managed to add only one.

Kano’s gold medal in kyorugi event increased their gold medals to five, as they ended up as second placed, while Lagos State finished third with two gold medals at the end of the competition.
