Musa-Kida: We Are All Happy With FIBA Verdict

Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) president, Ahmed Musa-Kida has disclosed that all stakeholders in the sport are happy with the global body, FIBA’s verdict that he is the authentic head of the national body.

Although top guns in the rival faction, headed by his predecessor in the NBBF top seat, Tijjani Umar, insist the FIBA verdict is erroneous, Musa-Kida believes peace will now reign in the sector.

Musa-Kida received the FIBA verdict with glee and immediately commenced a process of reaching out to aggrieved members of the opposing group, as he tries to mend all fences.

This come after the global body again backed him Musa-Kida, with a letter dated December 18th and addressed to the Secretary General of Nigeria Olympics Committee (NOC).

FIBA stated that, having received a letter from the NOC recognizing the board elected on the 13th of June 2017 in Abuja and the recent memo of the sports ministry validating Kida and his board, the international body deemed it fit to accord the board all the necessary recognition.

The letter also nullified the earlier pronouncement of the NOC electoral committee chaired by Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima that no board had been recognised by FIBA as the legitimate basketball federation.

FIBA through its Secretary General, Andreas Zaglis declared: “FIBA has communicated with the board of Mr Kida concerning the affairs of the NBBF since July 2017 and has organized FIBA events with the same board’s assistance.

“Besides, FIBA notes that good progress is being made in regularizing fully the NBBF-FIBA relationship, which remains an internal matter of the basketball family, since the NBBF is not suspended and enjoy full rights as a member.”
