Former Chelsea midfielder, Nigerian John Mikel Obi, looks set to join Turkish club Fenerbahçe after quitting Chinese club Tianjin Teda.

Mikel surprised the club and the fans when he cut short his contract with Tianjin with a year still to go and it is believed he wants to return to Europe for family reasons.

But he has also gone on record as saying he is not sure where he will play next, even mentioning that he might stay in China.

However French newspaper L’equipe reported that Fenerbahçe could be the likely destination for the Nigerian captain.

Since joining Tianjin from Chelsea, Mikel has been hampered by injuries and has played only 31 times for the club.Despite these setbacks, Mikel’s aim is to once again play for Nigeria in this year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
