Rangers International; of Enugu technical director, Christian Chukwu has pledged that The Flying Antelopes will work harder to get another victory against Bantu FC of Lesotho in the second leg of their CAF Confederation Cup play-off.
Speaking against the backdrop of the Cola City side’s 2-1 away win in Sunday’s first leg, ‘Chairman’ Chukwu said he is confident that the coach, Gbenga Ogunbote and his wards will not rest on their oars.
‘CC’ is staying confident that the club he captained in the late 70s have what it takes to stay focused an wrap up a ticket into the group stage next Sunday in Enugu.
The former Nigerian captain, who led the Eagles to Africa Cup of Nations glory on home soil in 1980, added that he is optimistic and confident that Rangers will qualify for the group stage.
Bright Silas and Godwin Aguda scored for Rangers in the 19th and 87th minute, while Lazola Jokojokwane reduced the deficit for Bantu FC in added time.
It was also Aguda’s fourth goal of the competition from five games, and Chukwu said he is expecting more from all the players during the second leg comes up on January 20 at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
However, while predicting that Rangers will repeat their away victory in Enugu, Chukwu urged the players not to relent in their determination.
Chukwu declared with emphasis: “It is not over until it is over, we must not relax because of our away victory.
“We shall continue to work hard and prepare well from the second leg because our opponents may like to spring up surprises in our home.”
