Anthony Joshua Would Beat ‘Terrible’ Wilder, ‘champ of nothing’ Fury, Says Hearn

ANTHONY JOSHUA is still the main man of the heavyweight scene, insists Barry Hearn.

The debate has raged about who is the top dog in boxing’s glamour division since Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury’s epic draw in Los Angeles last December.

Joshua, who holds the WBA, WBO and IBF belts is set to make his US debut against Jarrell Miller in June after failing to agree terms with an opponent for his scheduled fight at Wembley in April.

And the veteran promoter, who has handed over the reins to son Eddie, insists the Watford slugger will eventually reign supreme once all the big names have faced off.

He told IFLTV: “Well Deontay Wilder’s not very good, this is the technical part of it.

“Deontay Wilder can punch, but he can’t fight, let’s be honest. Deontay Wilder’s the easiest fight out there of anybody for Anthony Joshua.

“And he probably knows that as well which is why he’s being difficult, but that’s okay.

“I think it’s very good to be realistic and to understand yourself.”

After the draw last year, Wilder and Fury will get it on again this year and Hearn expects the Gypsy King to win beyond any doubt next time around.

He added: “Tyson Fury will box Wilder’s ears off next time round.

“He’s still got a puncher’s chance, but that’s all ‘cause he can’t fight.

“He has no technical ability whatsoever basically, I mean he’s terrible, but he can punch and punchers can equalise fights.

“I think Tyson Fury is not the finished deal because he can’t punch but he’s awkward as hell and he’s clever.

“Both of them technically don’t give me a problem at all about Anthony Joshua. Technically neither of them are in Anthony Joshua’s class.”
