Liverpool legend, Graeme Souness has spoken in glowing terms over what he believes is a perfect midfield combination between Wilfred Ndidi with Nampalys Mendy at Leicester City.
After seeing the Super Eagles star put up another yeoman’s performance for The Foxes at the weekend, Souness said Ndidi is on top of his game, but did not fail to note Mendy’s contributions as well.
The Reds’ icon explained that, despite The Foxes’ 1-0 loss to Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday at King Power Stadium, Ndidi comported himself well.
Indeed, match statistics showed that the former Racing Genk of Belgium central defender-turned-defensive midfielder made three interceptions, got three tackles and executed a crucial clearance in 90 minutes action.
Souness weighed the performances of Ndidi and Mendy, recounting that they both held their own against United’s top notch midfield partnership of Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba.
He added: ”I was really impressed with Leicester against Liverpool and there were parts of their game today that were good.
”Mendy and Ndidi in midfield, they’re workaholics, powerful types but they haven’t got that class about them where they can find those spaces and the passes in the last third.”
