Nigerian-born bulky striker, Adebayo Akinfenwa has declared that he is ready to take on American heavyweight boxer, Deontay Wilder in a top notch title fight – any time, anywhere, on any terms.
While Wilder is still in a dramatic game of nerves with Nigerian-born British heavyweight boxing champion of the world, Anthony Olaseni Oluwafemi Joshua over a mega-bucks four-belt unification bout, Akinfenwa says he is ready to take the American on.
Akinfenwa, who is regarded as ‘the heaviest striker in football’ and currently plays for Wycombe Wanderers in England’s lower league, said he is eager to give Wilder a run for his money in the ring.
The 36-year-old posed with WBC title holder Wilder, who is reportedly finalising terms for a potential rematch with another Brit, Tyson Fury.
Akinfenwa is known for his powerful frame that affectionately earned him a fitting nickname ‘The Beast’, has channeled into his own clothing brand tagged ‘Beast Mode On.’
The former Swansea City, Northampton and Wimbledon striker is still going strong in English football’s fourth tier despite entering the twilight of his career, during which he was once called up to the Super Eagles.
Last year he was nominated for English League Two Player of the Year, while he was thrilled to retain his crown as the strongest-rated player on FIFA19’s Ultimate Team with rating of 97.
Akinfenwa has now joked that he a better fight would be between himself and the American, known as the Bronze Bomber.
The bulky Akinfenwa posted on social media: “I would luv to see this fight happen, the best of the division going head2head.”
