Sports Secretary general of Nigeria Customs Service, Samuel Onikeku has described that Customs female team are in a top notch preparation to supersede the quarter finals they earned last year in Egypt at the club championship.
Speaking to pressmen, the secretary stated that early preparation and full support from their boss, the control general of Customs is their motivating factor to aim at list a semi final in this year’s competition.
“We are preparing well for the club championship within this year. Last year we got to the quarter finals in Egypt which was a respectable position to get to since no Nigerian club has gotten to before and we were in camp for three weeks. So that is why this year we are aiming to go higher, by making it a five weeks training camp to prepare ourselves and do better to make and lift up Nigeria name better.
We are going with the full team of fourteen players. The grouping hasn’t been done yet till when we get to Egypt, it will be done on arrival during the technical meeting. As you can see we had alot of changes in our technical crew, that was why we were able to win the league both the male and female and same time we are using international referees to update our team on all the latest rules so that we will not be having inflinchment when we get to Egypt.
Our team is ready and we have a wonderful support from our control general of Customs that gave us express approval on time. So there is no reason to fail.
The club championship is for both male and female. But the female team competition is coming early 14th-25th of March. While the male version comes up 30th-10th April. So very soon the male team will come into camp. And since the female team are traveling on the 13th of March is better we start their own preparation on time.
Our target this year is the Semi final anything short of that is set back for us. Which comes about the early preparation” he concluded
The Customs female volleyball team defeated Civil defence 3:0 straight to win the league last year. Making them sole representatives in this year’s club championship slated for Egypt.
The competition starts 14th-25th of March.
