All Progressive Congress (APC), Gubanitorial candidate for Lagos state in the forthcoming election, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, says he will make sports one of the pivot of his administration if voted into power in the coming polls.
Sanwo-Olu, was speaking with the hub of Nigerian sports journalist based in Lagos on Wednesday on his sports agenda if elected. He is one of the few aspirants to the office of Governor in the country who has done this.
He revealed that apart from improving existing infrastructures and programmes already on ground, he hopes to make sports a special plank in his administration and make it a booming business to engage the youths, redirect their energies and bring laurels and honours not only to Lagos state but to Nigeria in general.
The governorship candidate who exhibited an uncommon knowledge of the sports terrain, also revealed that more facilities will be built to enhance sports development in the state. He listed as one of his priorities the need to reclaim and develop the National stadium, which is Nigeria’s premier sports arena.
Incidentally, the media parley was help at the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Secretariat in Lagos. Efforts, he said are still ongoing to ensure that the Federal Government cedes the 75,000 capacity Stadium to Lagos state.
Earlier, in his opening remarks, Lagos SWAN Chairman, Debo Oshundun, thanked the governorship aspirant for honouring the association with his visit, declaring that the association will partner with Lagos state to take sports to fresh heights in the state.
