Corporate bodies across the country have been urged to tally round in providing funds for the much-expected Lagos Media Marathon, which organisers say is not only for journalists, but also for members of the public.
Chairman of the organising committee, Tony Ubani said the race, which is now scheduled to holds on Labour Day, May 1, is a huge platform for commercial viability, which corporate ventures can avail themselves of.
Ubani urged public and private companies across the country to partner, support and sponsor the first marathon being championed by journalists.
He pointed out that gains and positives from the marathon are many, as a lot of international journalists will also participate in the event.
While reiterating that the race is open to the public to participate and enjoy, Ubani added that registration for the Lagos Media Marathon will officially take off on Friday, March 1.
Ubani added: “Journalists and students will have free entry to the race, while other interested members of the public will pay a token of N3, 000 for registration.
“With the N3, 000 registration fee, participants are guaranteed a quality goodie bag, quality running kits, as well as medals among other things.
“The media’s involvement would further encourage more Nigerians to imbibe the culture of running, which is good for healthy living, he added.
“Apart from the main race, we have a long list of other activities that would keep our sponsors and partners in the news.”
