Arsenal of England attacker, Alex Iwobi has put aside plaudits trailing his performance in The Gunners’ UEFA Europa League victory against BATE Borisov of Belarus, as he prefers instead to rain fresh praises on Mesut Ozil, who made a rare return to the London club’s starting line-up.
While positives are again going out in favour of Iwobi, after he played 90 minutes in helping Arsenal reach the Europa League’s round of 16, the Super Eagles star prefers to turn the attention on previously out-of-favour Ozil instead.
Much to Iwobi’s delight, Ozil was back in Thursday’s victory at Emirates Stadium, as an own goal by Zakhar Volkov was followed by strikes from Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Shkodran Mustafi to take the pressure off Unai Emery, who appears not to love the German’s style.
After they both starred for 90 minutes on Thursday, Iwobi confessed that he was happy to have Ozil back and enthused that the German star would be able to keep his spot in The Gunners’ starting line-up after falling out of favour for several previous matches.
The Eagles’ playmaker stated: ”We know what Mesut’s like, we see him in training every day. He’s world class.
”We’ll create a lot of chances with him in the side so we just have to hope that we put our chances away.
“We’re able to score three goals from it. It’s about trying to create space and makes the right runs.
”I know that if I make a run he’ll be able to find me because he’s got the vision to spot it.
“I just have to make it easier and try to make a run so that he can play the ball for me. So, hopefully he continues to play.”
