Despite playing as a substitute for Arsenal on Wednesday, Alex Iwobi has received another flood of superlative rave reviews for his efforts in The Gunners’ 5-1 victory against Bournemouth.
Iwobi got off the hosts’ bench in place of Sead Kolasinac in the 57th minute of their stunning win at Emirates Stadium, and the Super Eagles star went on to enact yet another heroic performance.
The import of Iwobi’s efforts on the night was highlighted by the fact that he had initially been doubtful for the game, haven copped a knock against Southampton on Sunday, but he shook off the setback to shine.
Iwobi added urgency to Arsenal’s attack after getting into the fray, such that several online reports about the game accorded him top marks on the players’ ratings and overall statistics chart for the fixture.
Iwobi will now hope to justify all the accolades by maintaining his form, and avoid recent dips of inconsistency, with a view to doing better than ever in this weekend’s London derby against Tottenham Hotspur.
In recognition of his top form on Wednesday, Football. London wrote: “Alex Iwobi. Brought some energy to the side after the interval. Always wanted the ball and was involved a lot. 6.”
Pain In The Arsenal weblog added: “One fantastic pass in particular that found Mesut Ozil through two lines of Bournemouth defense, and was otherwise useful throughout the course of the match.”
In the same vein, Arsenalstation.com stated: “Iwobi 6/10. Saw plenty of the ball after coming on for Kolasinac.”
