Mountain of Fire & Miracles Ministry (MFM) FC of Lagos defender, Joshua Akpudje has stated delight with his inclusion in the Olympic Eagles’ squad for the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya.
Akpudje is one of 11 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) players invited for the game in Tunisia, and one of five that got the opportunity to start in Nigeria’s green-and-white colours on Wednesday.
Along with Flying Eagles goalkeeper, Olawale Oremade, full-backs John Lazarus and Ebube Duru from Lobi Stars of Makurdi and central defence partner, Adebayo Ojo, the 20-year-old Akpudje, who is among the tallest stoppers in the NPFL, said he was excited to be in the team.
Akpudje, who is a product of a youth development project floated by three former Super Eagles players – Stephen Ayodele Makinwa, Ifeanyi Emeghara and Ebenezer Oluwafemi Ajilore – said is happy to be part of the under-23 national team and vowed to always give his best.
He added: “I believe we will come out in flying colours against Libya. I will keep on putting in my best to develop.
“The national team is an avenue for me as a young player to showcase my talent to the world.
“I believe by the special grace of God with hard work everything will work out well for the team.”
