Pirates’ Delegation Of 29 Relocates To Asaba

A delegation of 29 people from Seychelles on Wednesday moved to Asaba, Delta State, after earlier landing on Tuesday at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, ahead of Friday’s last match against Nigeria in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Pirates’ players, coaches, officials and journalists flew into Abuja aboard Ethiopian Airline in the afternoon but decided to spend the night in the Nigerian capital.

Consequently, the Seychelles’ delegation flew to Asaba on the cards of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Wednesday, which gives them two days to prepare for Friday’s match at Stephen Keshi Stadium, with kick-off fixed for 4pm in the Delta State capital.

It is, however, a formality match, as Nigeria have already secured their place at AFCON 2019 and will be in the pot for the draw on Friday, 12th April at CAF’s headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, while The Pirates were long eliminated and have only come to fulfill the fixture.

The Eagles, though, will use the match to kick-start their preparations for AFCON 2019 in Egypt, against whose national team they will also play against at the same venue in Asaba next Tuesday.

Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr said he is seeking victory against Seychelles and The Pharaohs of Egypt, who are seven-time African champions and record winners of the continent’s most prestigious football showpiece.
