Super Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr has expressed happiness at his ability to start full training on Tuesday in Asaba, Delta State, with his complete array of invited players for Friday’s last match of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Seychelles.
The last five players to join the team in Asaba were Henry Onyekuru, John Ugochukwu Ogu, Oghenekaro Etebo, Francis Odinaka Uzoho and Victor Osimhen, which made Rohr happy to have his invitees turning up in full early for Friday’s game, as they got straight down to business.
Rohr pointed out that the usual winding down sessions in the gym could not hold Tuesday morning, but enthused that the players will make up for it with extra drills in the coming hours.
The Franco-German tactician reiterated his resolve to get victories from both upcoming matches, despite Friday’s game being a mere formality, as well as the international friendly against a depleted Egyptian side on Tuesday next week.
However, all the players showed equal enthusiasm for the upcoming games, as the coach added that they must take the games as the start of preparations for AFCON 2019, billed for June/July in Egypt.
This was confirmed through a series of posts on social media, as the Eagles’ media unit reeled out photographs of the squad in their first training session ahead of Friday’s match.
The Eagles media unit posted: “Some pictures of our team in training #SoarSuperEagles #Team9jaStrong.”
