Stoke City of England midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo has given thanks to the club’s supporters for cheering the side to victory, and inspiring him to net his second goal of the season.
Following his wonder goal on Saturday, which fetched Stoke a 1-0 win away to Blackburn Rovers, and turned round his side’s ironic run of four straight goalless draws, Etebo said it was a massive win inspired by an amazing level of support The Potters got from their fans.
In an encounter that also saw one of his colleagues lose a penalty, Etebo admitted he was delighted to score the decisive goal, as he knocked home with a rasping strike from 18 yards out.
After powering home a stunning match-winner, Etebo took to social media to reveal that he was particularly delighted that the goal helped Nathan Jones’ men secure the maximum points in the game.
The scoreline would have been more emphatic had former Barcelona forward, Bojan Krkic scored from the spot late in the first half, but the miss means only three of Stoke’s last 13 penalties have been converted.
It is a dreadful record that has some fans suggesting that The Potters are cursed, just as was playing four goalless draws in a stretch, but Etebo is still hailing the fans for cheering the club back to winning ways.
Etebo stated: “Massive win away from home 3 points, feels great to get the winning goal amazing support from the fans.”
