Club Brugge of Belgium attacker, Dennis Emmanuel Bonaventure has been hailed by the side’s coach, Ivan Leno, who says the under-23 national team star’s turbo-level has improved, following his goal and assist in a 4-0 drubbing of Standard Liege.
Leno was all plaudits for Bonaventure, after the Olympic Eagles’ rookie hit target get for the second straight game in the Belgian First Division on Monday evening, with his seventh goal from 20 appearances this season.
The 21-year-old Bonaventure first headed home Hans Vanaken’s cross in the 39th minute to stretch his side’s lead, then created the final goal at Jan Breydel Stadium with an assist for Wesley in the 80th minute.
In his post-match comments, Bonaventure’s coach hailed the marked improvements he has seen in the lad’s game this term, and noted that the attacker-cum-winger has stepped up his energy level for longer periods.
Although the Brugge boss hinted that Bonaventure still has to add weight, which he ostensibly says can be achieved with a better diet routine, the gaffer pointed out the star’s transformation in three months.
Leno said: “The difference between Dennis and that of three months ago is that he continues to play in turbo after twenty or thirty minutes.
“He can provide extra motivation for top matches but in the past, he sometimes stops playing football after one goal or assist.
“That is no longer the case. He has a lot of talent but will still have to eat a lot of sandwiches.”
