Super Eagles’ goalkeepers’ trainer, Alloy Agu has opined that Nigeria remain among the contenders for glory at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, as he believes the players are all determined to excel.
Speaking ahead of Friday’s draw ceremony in Cairo, the ex-international shot-stopper, who was part of the Eagles’ squad that won bronze at Senegal ’92 and gold at Tunisia ’94, added that the current set of players have also instilled high levels of discipline and dedication.
Agu is of a view that dedication, discipline and determination will see the Eagles to top spot in Egypt, but admitted that the players will still have to stay focused and concentrate fully in every match they play.
He reasoned further that Friday’s draw ceremony would give a clearer picture of what to expect at Egypt 2019, but added that the zeal to win is the biggest motivating factor propelling the Eagles’ players and crew.
“We are determined to do well in Egypt,” Agu declared.” We want to get a new feel of the Nations Cup.
“Through determination, discipline and dedication, I believe it will be possible, regardless of any team we are drawn against in the group.”
