AFCON 2019: Eagles line up top friendlies against former champions

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have concluded plans to engage two former champions of the African Cup of Nations in a friendly match before the AFCON tournament, following the conclusion of Friday’s draw which pitched them in Group B.

According to Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Amaju Pinnick, who also doubles as CAF Vice President, the Eagles will face two of the games in preparation for the forth coming tournament in June.

SportsDay further revealed that North African giants Tunisia and Morocco are one of the two countries interested in playing the Super Eagles, whilst West African brothers Ghana or Ivory Coast are also potential opponents for the friendly clashes.

Similarly, the Zimbabwe national team are also in discussion to play Nigeria, having been drawn with hosts Egypt, Uganda and DR Congo.

Nigeria was drawn in Group B with Guinea, Burundi and Madagascar, which shocked Africa to qualify first for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
