Rangers International of Enugu coach, Gbenga Ogunbote has admitted he was truly disappointed with his side’s 2-1 loss to Bendel Insurance of Benin City on Thursday, but hinted that officiating played a part in it.
Although The Flying Antelopes’ gaffer acknolwedged that the result of any match could be victory, defesat or a draw, he reckoned that Rangers could have held their own had one of their players not been sent off.
The result marked an end to a long unbeaten run for The Coal City side, yet only their second defeat of the season, and Ogunbote insists they will bounce back for better results in subsequent matches.
Rangers still stand top of the Group A table in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), even with a game in hand, such that Ogunbote is still confident of ending the season on a high with the FA Cup holders.
Ogunbote stated: “It’s a disapointing result no doubt, but we have to take it the way it came.
“In a football match, you either win, lose or draw, which we expect from any game we go into, but it’s sad to lose in this manner.
“It’s disappointing to have a man sent off, which caused this defeat, but we will not give up. We will just have to concetrate on the next match.”
