Former Super Eagles coach, Clemens Westerhof was back in the news last weekend, as Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) rolled out a lofty message of appreciation to him on his 79th birthday.
The well-acclaimed ‘Dutch-Gerian,’ who led the Eagles to Africa Cup of Nations glory at Tunisia ’94 and their first ever senior World Cup outing at USA ’94, marked his birthday on Friday, and the NFF joined in wishing him many happy returns.
In celebrating Westerhof, born born 3 May 1940 in Beek, Montferland, Gelderland, Holland, the NFF stated appreciation for how he brought glory to Nigeria at the highest level with the ‘golden generation’ of the country’s best football stars, and prayed for better days ahead of him.
The NFF’s message was relayed via social media by the body’s information department, which added that Westerhof brought great memories for Nigerian football.
The NFF declared: “Hurray! Former @NGSuperEagles coach Clemens Westerhof. Many happy returns coach, thank you for the memories.”
