Villarreal of Spain winger, Samuel Chukwueze could take after Emmanuel Amuneke, Gbenga Okunowo and Haruna Babangida as the next Nigerian star to play for FC Barcelona, sequel to reports that he has attracted summer transfer attention from The Catalans.
‘Samu’ has been in truly tremendous form in only his first season with Villarreal’s main team, with remarkable performances and goals to show in La Liga, such that he is bound to get instant rewards for his efforts this summer, should his link with Barca materialise into a summer transfer.
Information from The Land of The Armada states further that Chukwueze could be on his way to Camp Nou to replace ex-Liverpool ace, Philippe Coutinho, who has struggled to live up to expectation since his arrival at Barcelona in January 2018.
Although Villarreal are eager to retain Chukwueze, with The Yellow Submarine going ahead to fix a huge transfer clause into his contract, the youngster appears high on the wish list of The Blaugrana, who are set to fix him into the vacuum that would be created with Coutinho’s exit.
Barca, though, will have to move fast and pile immense pressure, as Chukwueze is also in the sight of the English Premier League top two of Liverpool and Manchester City, who have also both been attracted by the youngster’s haul of eight goals for Villarreal’s first team this season.
Don Balon adds that interest in Chukwueze from Barcelona has been enhanced by the goal the Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medalist hit against The Catalans in the month of April.
