Falcons Fly To Austria On Tuesday, Hit France June 4

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have revealed that the country’s female national team, Super Falcons will fly out to Austria on Tuesday, May 21, for the start of their final training camp towards this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, where they are scheduled to arrive on the 4th of June.

 At France 2019, which holds from 7th June to 7th July, the nine-time African champions will play in Group A, alongside the host country, as well as Norway and Korea Republic, ahead of which they will spend two weeks in preparations at Avita Resort in Bad Tatzmannsdorf, Austria.

 Thomas Dennerby’s side will open their Women’s Mundial campaign on June 8, against Norway in Reims, before taking on Korea in Grenoble on June 12 and tango France for their last group tie in Rennes on 17th June. 

 The Falcons will fly out of Nigeria to Austria on 21st May, with a view towards perfecting strategies for the 8th Women’s World Cup, ahead of which they are currently participating at the regional West African Football Union (WAFU) Cup in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.

 Following a 5-1 victory against Burkina Faso in their first match on Thursday, Dennerby’s lasses will hope to seal a semi-final ticket against Niger Republic on Saturday.

 A high score win on Saturday will earn the Falcons an early ticket into the semi-finals and set them in good mood for the concluding stages of the of the regional championship, the last edition of which they could only finish in third place.

 In their first match on Thursday, Uchenna Kanu opened scoring as early as the eighth minute, before stand-in captain, Evelyn Nwabuoku and Amarachi Okoronkwo converted penalty kicks to make it three.

 Kanu ended up as woman of the match with two more goals in the second half, before Charlotte Milogo pulled a consolation back for Burkina Faso.

 After Saturday’s 15-0 trouncing of Niger Republic, the Falcons will tackle high scoring Mali in their last group match on Tuesday.
