Amuneke Wants Right Attitude From Tanzania’s Players

Former Super Eagles wingfer, Emmanuel Amuneke has added another angle to factors that could help him lead Tanzania to a resounding outing at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, as The Taifa Stars’ coach says all the players must adopt the right attitude for success.

Amuneke said in a chat during Mega Sports on Star 101.5 FM, Lagos that doing well in their return to the continental soccer showpiece, 39 years after their debut of 1980 in Nigeria, will entail more than just talent.

The 1994 African Footballer of The Year, who played for Zamalek of Egypt, Sporting Lisbon of Portugal and Barcelona of Spain dueiring his heyday, added that he wants to see his players comport themselves well, on and off the field of play, in order to return home gallantly.

He, however, stressed that he does not want his lads to get carried away with the euphoria of the moment, which could end up seeing them to play to the gallery, in order to impress individually.

The member of Nigeria’s AFCON ’94 winning team in Tunisia and first squad ever at the World Cup, at USA ’94, stressed that team work will be the bacis approach to all their matches in Egypt, with a view to taking any chasnce they can to cause an upset or two.

Amuneke stressed: “Tanzania has talent, that is not in dispute, but we must do more than just that when we get to the Nations Cup.

“I want the players to add the right attitude to what they do. They need to be good on and off the pitch.

“After that, we will look closer at our tactics and technical approach to each match, especially with the boys playing as a team together.

“It’s is not just about showing your individual talent, but how you mix with your teammates, how well you do on and off the ball as well.”
