Odey Targets 11th Swiss Super League Goal

FC Zurich of Switzerland striker, Stephen  Odey has admitted he was excited to score his 10th goal of the season last Wednesday, but he is already targeting another this midweek, as he joins his pals for their latest Swiss Super League clash away to FC Luzern.

Odey and his pals are on the road against Nigerian compatriot, Blessing Eleke’s club, but the former Mountain of Fire & Miracles Ministry (MFM) FC of Lagos attacker will not allow friendship becloud his thirst for goals.

Consequently, Odey has fired himself up with memories of how thrilled he was netting his 10th league goal last week, as he helped Zurich seal a spot in the UEFA Europa League with 3-0 win over FC Thun at Letzigrund.

Despite the victory, Zurich lie fifth on the table behind Thun on goals difference, as they both have 43 points, and Odey is tasking himself to make the best of his return to goals scoring form this Wednesday.

His sizzler on May 15 marked a return to the Zurich squad, after missing the previous game, a 2-1 win away to Nuechatal Xamax, one week after he got a yellow card in a 3-0 loss away to FC Basel, and he now wants to make the best of his side’s last two games of the season.

The youngster, who has hit 14 goals in all competitions for the Stadtclub this term, was the highest goals scorer for MFM FC before moving to his present base in 2017 and he continues making waves with the side.

His effort last time out earned him a place in the Swiss Super League team of the week for the fourth time this season, but Odey says he is yearning for more, as he took to social media to reveal his aspirations.

Odey posted: “So pleased to score my 10th league goal and 16 in all competition this season against FC Thun on Wednesday for FC Zurich and really excited to make the TOTW for the fourth time this season.”
