Nigerian-born world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Olaseni Oluwafemi Joshua has revealed another angle to his preparations for next month’s blockbuster debut in America, as he takes time out to cool off for several hours in a bath loaded to the full with ice cubes.
‘AJ’ will will make his USA debut in a three-belt heavyweight world title contest against Andy Ruiz Jr at Madison Square Garden in New York, ahead of which he dipped in an ice bath and put up a photo shot about it.
The IBF, WBA and WBO champ stressed that he is not underestimating Ruiz, who is a late alternative to Jarell ‘Big Baby’ Miller, and declared that the American is a ‘championship’ level fighter.
Some critics have tagged Ruiz as a misfit, like Dominic Breazeale was for American rival, Deontay Wilder last weekend, but Joshua, a London 2012 Olympic Games gold medalist, who represents Britain, is eager to stay focused for his impending maiden outing in God’s Own Country.
Joshua stressed that Ruiz is a great challenger and will bring the best out of him on June 1, ahead of which he says his opponent has shown that he can fight and box hard, the way it matters.
The unbeaten ‘AJ’ then took to social media to reveal an unusual aspect of his preparations for his bow at Madison Square Garden, New York.
Joshua, however, chose to use only few words while revealing his chilled routine, as he simply stated: “What’s cooler than being cool?!”
