Nigeria Handball Federation (NHF) president, Sam Ocheho has stated delight with the quality of play, standard and successful organisation of the first phase of the 2nd Prudent Energy Handball League.
Ocheho recalled that the first edition of the competition was equally a huge success, adding that he is more delighted to see that Season 2 of the championship got off in grand style and the first phase ended well.
Speaking in the wake of the first phase of the Nigerian Handball League, which ran from May 13 to May 25 in Abuja, Ocheho said he is already looking forward to even more exciting moments during the second stage in Lagos, come October.
The handball federation boss commended all the players, coaches and officials for putting overall improvement into the league, for which he promised that his administration will continue to strive for giant strides aimed at promoting the sport much further in the country.
He added during Mega Sports radio programme on Star 101.5 FM, Lagos that he was equally thrilled to see many young players taking part in this year’s competition and specifically mentioned the discoveries of some new talented goalkeepers.
Ocheho stated: “The good thing about Season 2 is that the competition is more exciting than what we saw in Season 1.
“We are seeing more talents and many young players showing a lot of potentials and promise, especially with the goalkeepers.”
