Rohr Picks His Own Choice Of Players – Adepoju

Former Super Eagles attacker, Mutiu Adepoju (Headmaster) has thrown his weight behind the team’s current coach, Gernot Rohr in the choice of players that have been invited to the pre-Africa Cup of Nations camp.

The Eagles are set to resume camping this Sunday in Delta State capital, Asaba, ahead of which Mutiu says he has nothing against Rohr’s options, but added the need for them all to be fully committed.

Adepoju, who made marks with Compostela and Real Sociedad of Spain, after shooting to limelight in Nigeria’s silver-medal winning under-20 squad at the Saudi ’89 World Youth Championship, said Rohr should not be crticised because he believes the gaffer knows what he wants.

The USA ’94 and France ’98 World Cup star, who got one of the goals in Nigeria’s historic victory over Spain in the Eagles’ second outing at the Mundial, added during Mega Sports programme on Star 101.5 FM, Lagos that the players will now have to replicate their club form at Egypt 2019.

He added: “We should support Gernot Rohr in the choices he has made in his list for camping before going to the Nations Cup in Egypt.

“I believe he brought them for a  purpose. They are the ones he believes in, because they have done well for him in the past.

“They are also doing well with their clubs and they can do the same for Nigeria. Rohr knows what he wants and what they can do.

“Let’s see how everything pans out and see how the preparations will go. Let’s see them in training, then we follow them to the Nations Cup.”
