Rangers International of Enugu striker, Ibrahim Ajani has admitted that his side did not give a good account of themselves in their opening match of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Super-6.
Following their opening 1-0 loss to Enyimba of Aba on Tuesday at Agege Stadium, Lagos, Ajani admits The Flying Antelopes are now facing a tall order, as they will have to fight back into contention for the title.
Ajani stated as much during a chat with Mega Sports on Star 101.5 FM, Lagos, but added that The Coal City side will not give up their quest to be crowned champions once again, after breaking a 32-year-jinx to claim the NPFL gong back in 2016.
Action resumes on Thursday, when Rangers tango Lobi Stars, Pillars face Enyimba and Akwa United tackle FC Ifeanyiubah, ahead of which Ajani is now filled with hope that his team will bounce back to winning ways.
The former Sunshine Stars of Akure hitman concluded with a view that he and his colleagues just have to remain hopeful about their chances of winning on Thursday and go on to do better in their remaining matches.
Ajani moaned: “We lost our first match, and that is not good enough. We are all sad, because it does not show a good sign for Rangers.
“I don’t know what to say about the defeat, but the truth is that I am not happy. I just hope we will win our next match.”
