Rangers International of Enugu steiker, Ibrahim Ajani has declared that his sdie are still in contention to pick a continental ticket from the 2019 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Super-6, with just a match left for each team in the play-off series at Agege Stadium, Lagos.
Despite losing their opening match of the campaign against table-topping Enyimba of Aba, Ajani is of a view that Monday’s come-from-behind 1-1 draw with Kano Pillars was a very good sign of The Flying Antelopes’ revival, and predicted they will sink FC Ifeanyiubah of Nnewi in their last fixture on Wednesday.
Ajani stated further during a chat with Mega Sports on Star 101.5 FM, Lagos that the Coal City side were delighted with their ability to hold Pillars, despite having a man sent off, and stressed that the result has further boosted their morale to keep hoping for glory until the end.
Rangers enter the last match of the contest on on five points, which means they can no longer overtake Enyimba, who have ten, while Pillars have eight, but Ajani believes finishing second is still a possibility for his side, which would assure them of a contienntal spot with eight points.
He, however, acknowledged that they will have to stay focused and put in more effort than they did on Monday, as the final round of games in the series would be pivotal for all the competing teams, even last placed FC Ifeanyiubah, who Rangers will slug it with in an Oriental Derby.
