SC Padeborn of Germany defender, Jamilu Collins is set to hook a major summer transfer to Norwich City of England, in a move that would make him the third Nigerian to star for The Canaries.
Collins, who was back in the Super Eagles’ starting line-up for Sunday’s international friendly against Senegal, is bound to follow in the footsteps of Efan Ekoku and Joseph Ikpo Yobo as the next Nigerian to play for the London club, whioch only returned to the English Premier League at the end of the past season in the Championship.
Incitentally, Collins is married to a Croatian lady, which gives him EU status and he will not need a British work permit to make the switch this month from Paderborn to The Canaries.
Norwich are reportedly eager to sign the 24-year-old Collins, who played 34 matches for Paderborn and helped them achieve a remarkable double promotion to the Bundesliga, but they want to seal a deal before the left-back goes to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The expectations is high that Collins’ market value will go up, once he does well in Egypt, and Kicker reports that Norwich are keen on a deal to be finalised before AFCON 2019 begins on Friday.
The Kaduna-born dark-skinned lad, who moved to Croatia in 2012 and then went on loan to various clubs before joining Paderborn two years ago, is seen as Nigeria’s latest left-wing-back hope for years to come.
