Eddie Hearn has rubbished claims he is finding it difficult to finalise the rematch between Anthony Joshua and Andy Ruiz. ‘Absolutely not true. I don’t know whether Oscar was on a bit of a session. I was so close to replying a few things and I typed it out a few times,’ Hearn told IFL TV.
‘Not saying Oscar is a troll, but sometimes. I just came back and said “Bet we make our fight before your fight”. That was my response. It was a bit tame.’ Hearn sent a quick reply to De La Hoya’s tweet, challenging the American to find Alvarez’s next opponent before Joshua signed to fight Ruiz again. Joshua is determined to seek immediate revenge over Ruiz after his defeat to the new champion sent shockwaves through the world of boxing
The rematch will be in the UK or at Madison Square Garden again and Hearn revealed the decision was Joshua’s. ‘I think it’s between the UK and MSG,’ Hearn said. ‘If he [Joshua] beats Andy Ruiz away Madison Square Garden, he becomes an over night sensation.
‘I spoke to him [Joshua] and said:”You’re going to have a very difficult decision to make in the next 48 hours. Because I’m going to lay it all on a bit of paper for you, and I’m going to say what do you want to do”. As always, Anthony will decide.’
