Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF) have come out with a list of 18 players invited to camp for the start of preparations towards this year’s Africa Games in Morocco.
With the Games fast approaching in August, tne NTTF have moved fast to start their build-up programme, with several youth players invited alongside some elderly ones to the training camp in Lagos.
NTTF secretary-general, James Eakyns disclosed that eight male and 10 female players are expected to commence camping next Friday, July 5 for the the first phase of preparations towards the African Games.
Eakyns also revealed that the male players are Taiwo Mati, Akinwale Fagbamila, Rahman Abdullahi, David Fayele, Ahmed Bello, Jide Ogidiolu, Kehinde Oladele and Adeola Oloruntade.
The females are Fatima Bello, Cecilia Otu-Akpan, Ajoke Ojomu, Nimota Aregbesola, Ayo Udoh, Tosin Oribamise, Funmilola Ajala, Ganiat Aruna, Fatima Kazeem and Bose Odusanya.
However, those who failed to make the cut include the current African junior champion, Azeez Solanke as well as Italy-based duo of Nurudeen Hassan and Jamiu Azeez, who all ost out during the trials in Lagos.
The NTTF scribe added that the 18 players will be in camp before they are joined by their foreign-based counterparts for the final phase of camping before the team jets out to Rabat, Morocco.
