Spezia of Italy striker, David Chidozie Okereke has found more transfer interest coming his way, as Club Brugge of Belgium are now said to be in the hunt for the youngster’s signature.
So soon after news emerged that Newcastle United of England have their eyes fully set on snatching the striker this summer, Okereke could be on his way to taking over from Joseph Akpala and Dennis Emmanuel Bonaventure as the next Nigerian to play for Brugge.
Although the 21-year-old attack is also said to have caught the interest of Italian Serie A club, Sassuolo, a well as the English Premier League pair of Crystal Palace and Southampton, Brugge believe their tradition with Nigerian players will sway him to join their ranks.
Brugge, though, will have to move fast, as all other clubs seeking to buy Okereke from Spezia have already made contact with the Serie B outfit, to buttress their interest in the youngster with formal bids.
Nonetheless, a report by HLN noted that Brugge have also made a strong approach for Okereke and tabled a bid for the rising star, who they see as an ideal replacement for new Aston Villa signing, Wesley Moraes.
The report adds that Spezia are counting on Club Brugge’s offer to flush out Premier League interest as they seek to kick-off an auction.
