Falconets’ Coach Invites 25 Players For Africa Games

Nigeria’s female under-20 national team coach, Christopher Danjuma has invited 25 players to camp, for the start of preparations, ahead of the women’s football event at the 12th Africa Games, next month in Rabat, Morocco.

All eight participating countries for the upcoming Games, alongside Nigeria, are those that also took part in the 11th Africa Women’s Cup of Nations last year, but the hosts of that championship, Ghana, have been replaced by Morocco, where the upcoming African multiple sports festival holds in August.

Ahead of that outing, Danjuma’s list of invitees for the Games includes two of the senior national team, Super Falcons’ standout players at the 8th FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and defender Chidinma Okeke, who are still within the under-20 age range.

Both players, who were part of Nigeria’s team to the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, which also took place in France, will be joined in the Falconets’ camp by Efih Peace, Gift Monday, Folashade Ijamilusi, Rafiat Sule and Cynthia Aku.

The women’s football tournament of the Africa Games will hold from 19th to 31st August, ahead of which all of Danjuma’s invited players are expected to report at Agura Hotel, Abuja on Sunday, 7th July along with their international passports, birth certificates and training kits.

Danjuma’s full list of 25 invitees has Uduabong Peter (Ibom Angels); Bashirat Amoo (Confluence Queens); Joy Duru (Nasarawa Amazons); Peace Efih (Rivers Angels); Adebisi Saheed (Bayelsa Queens); Chiamaka Nnadozie (Rivers Angels); Gift Monday (FC Robo); Grace Igboamalu (Nasarawa Amazons); and Chidinma Okeke (FC Robo).

Others are Mary Saiki (Nasarawa Amazons); Folashade Ijamilusi (FC Robo); Dooshima Tarnum (Nasarawa Amazons); Zainab Olapade (Sunshine Queens); Esther Momoh (Confuence Queens); Akudo Ogbonna (Sunshine Queens); Catherine Kenneth (Rivers Angels); Patricia Innocent (Sunshine Queens); and Christiana Obia (Osun Babes).

Completing the list are Rita Akarekor (Sunshine Queens); Josephine Mathias (Rivers Angels); Rafiat Sule (Bayelsa Queens); Cynthia Aku (Rivers Angels); Mary Anjor (Bayelsa Queens); Esther Adeboye (FC Robo); and Omowunmi Oshobukola (Sunshine Queens).
