New signing at Racing Genk of Belgium, Stephen Odey is basking in the euphoria of four goals in his first two matches for the team he joined last week, and says his next target is to do same against Maccabi Tel Aviv of Israel in an international club fixture on Thursday.
After hitting two goals each against Bregel Sport and KVK Beringen in his first couple of pre-season matches for Genk, Odey has now turned his focus on the international scene, and believes hitting the bull’s eye against Maccabi would be a solid way to announce his arrival in Belgium.
Genk have a strong history of Nigerian players in their squad, the most recent of which was Leicester City midfielder, Wilfred Onyinyen Ndidi, but Odey is the new kid on the block, and he admits there is an air of great expectation hanging on his shoulders.
However, as they prepare to step out against the former club of ex-Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama, Odey is thinking big and planning well, as he revealed that he is waiting eagerly to explode on the continental stage as well.
Odey posted on social media: “It’s been brace upon brace since I joined @KRCGenkofficial.
“First it was against Bregel Sport and on Saturday against KVK Beringen. Now waiting for the next now against Maccabi Tel Aviv.”
