Lille Metropole of France new singing, Victor Osimhen has declared that he will do his very best to keep alive the Nigerian legacy that lies with the French Ligue 1 outfit, as he recalls that former Super Eagles’ stars, Vincent Enyeama nd Peter Osaze Odemwingie are legends at the club.
Osimhen stated in the wake of his five-year-deal with the Principality team that he has to try and surpass the impact Enyeama and Osaze created with the club, hence his determination to hit the ground running and do better than he did with Sporting Charleroi of Belgium.
The Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medalist and top scorer, whose contract with Lille will run until June 2024, added that he wants to keep alive his surge to goals scoring form, which marked his breakthrough at Charleroi, following five years of struggles at VfL Wolfsburg of Germany, and rejection by Zulte-Waregem of Belgium.
After scoring 20 times in Belgium last season, Osimhen said he hopes to maintain his top form at his new base, with a view that he will gain enough inspiration from memories of what Osaze and Enyeama achieved during their glorious days with Lille.
Osimhen told the Ligue 1 outfit’s official website: “Lille is a very good club that has a quality project and includes high-class players, even more in recent years.
“Great Nigerian players have also played here. I would like to join their lineage and follow their footsteps.
“I am very happy to be here and to join this great club. I am still young, I am learning and I think that this project suits me perfectly to continue to progress.”
