Enyimba of Aba midfielder, Reuben Bala has declared that The Peoples’ Elephant are banking on God to help them overcome Rahimo of Burkina Faso in the first round of the CAF Champions League qualifiers.
Although he interjected that the Aba club’s players and coaches are also working very hard to prepare for their August 10 first leg away fixture in Ougadougou, the new arrival in The City of Elephants said they cannot succeed without God on their side.
The nephew of former under-17 national team, Golden Eaglets’ star, Ezekiel Bala added during Mega Sports on Star 101.5 FM, Lagos that he and his teammates will step up their efforts in the coming days, in order to stand a good chance of going far in their continental soccer campaign.
The soft-spoken midfielder, who scored three goals to help Enyimba get a record eighth Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title and his second personally, added that he was glad to be a champion teice in three seasons, having ealier won it with Plateau United of Jos in 2017.
He stressed that the big reason why he believes God will still play a role in Enyimba’s continental aspirations is because even winning the league win with them was a miraculous feat for him and his colleagues.
The amiable battler explained that he called it a miracle because many other players are unable to win a title throughout their careers, but he has been able to achieve to achieve two at a young age, and he ios now set to play continental football just few months after joining Enyimba.
Bala added: “God is on our side and, by the grace of God, we will survive in the CAF Champions League, starting with our match in Burkina Faso.
“We are preparing very well for the game, and I am sure we will do well in Burkina Faso, when we play the first leg there.”
