Former Sunshine Stars of Akure striker, Tunde Adeniji has completed a summer transfer deal to Debrecen VSC of Hungary as a free agent, and signed a two-year contract that will run until the summer of 2021.
The 23-year-old Adeniji, who has also played for Levski Sofia of Bulgaria, FK Atyrau of Kazakhstan and Al-Nasr SC of Kuwait, has already started full training with his new team, where he will enjoy the company of Nigerian compatriot, Haruna Garba in the top-flight Hungarian outfit.
Adeniji will aim to better his form with Levski, where he scored nine goals in 57 games, plus nine assists, as well as with Atyrau, where he netted eight goals in 30 matches, before moving to Al-Nasr.
The move comes just six months after Adeniji sealed a deal with Kuwaiti Premier League side, Al-Nasr on a free transfer, but eventually cut short what was meant to be an 17-month stay until June 30, 2020.
The all-action striker, who was in superb form for Sunshine Stars in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NFPL) three seasons ago, with 16 goals, which earned him a spot in the home-based Eagles’ squad to the 2016 Championship of African Nations in Rwanda, is now back in Europe.
His arrival at Debrecen is already being celebrated by the club, which rolled out superlatives on his behalf while publishing a shot citation to herald their confirmation of his deal in the East European country.
Debrecen NBI’s DSC official website disclosed: “DVSC strengthens with Nigeria’s national team (striker).
“Adeniji has already entered the Debrecen team in a preparation match, and the club has decided to hire the 23-year-old (after passing a) trial.
“The four-time Nigerian national football player’s (and) 185-centimeter striker has signed an additional two-year contract with the club.”
