Real Madrid of Spain’s Nigerian-born youngster, Marvin Akinlabi Park has attracted interest from the Bernabeu club’s first team coach, Zinedine Zidane, and has gained promotion to a spot just behind the main squad, but the 19-year-old lad will this season line out with Los Blancos’ reserves in the lower division.
Information out of The Land of The Armada indicates that Park is on the verge of becoming the first player of Nigerian origin to feature for Real Madrid’s first team, as he stands to gain accelerated recognition from Zidane, should he excel with their second team, Castilla this season in Segunda Liga.
He follows in the footsteps of Nduka Ugbade, Mutiu Adepoju, Dimeji Lawal, Derik Osede and Christopher Ohenhen, who were also on the cards of Castilla at various points, but never got to make competitive debuts in Madrid’s first team.
That will be the task Park hopes to change, as the youngster, who was in top form with Real’s under-19 team last season and helped the Juvenil A squad win all their group matches in the UEFA Youth League.
Park also helped the team finish second in Group V of Division de Honor and reach the Copa del Rey semi-finals, during which he caught the eye of Zidane, with a hint of a look in for the youngster with the main squad somewhere along the line this term at Santiago Bernabeu.
