New signing at Real Madrid Femeni of Spain, Chidinma Okeke has disclosed the deep level of delight she had in winning her first official match with the club she joined this summer from FC Robo Queens of Lagos, after shinning with the Nigerian female national team, Super Falcons.
Okeke got the move to Madrid after starring for Nigeria at this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, where she got an assist in the 2-0 win against South Korea, and she is now delighted that she has been able to take her national team form to her club, as they got a 1-0 victory over Real Betis on her debut.
It was MatchDay One of the 2019-2020 La Liga Feminine season, and it turned out to be a huge bow for Okeke, who was also in the Nigerian second-string team that won the 2019 West African Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFU Cup) in Ivory Coast, but the 19-year-old defender was excluded from the Falconets’ team that won gold at the recent African Game in Rabat, Morocco.
The Cupid-faced right-back was on from start to finish for Real, as the home side got their Liga campaign underway with a hard-fought victory on Sunday night at Estadio Municipal Nuevo Matapiñonera in San Sebastián de los Reyes.
The Falcons’ rookie took to social media afterwards, to reveal how excited she was, after Estela Fernandez got the only goal of the game for her side in the 94th minute, much to the delight of her coach, Víctor Miguel Fernández and her teammates.
She also admitted how excited she was to make her mark in her very first official match, and that the team gave everything to ensure they win, as she noted that there was a high level of fighting spirit among the lasses to get victory on the opening day of the new women’s season in Spain, all of which she acknowledged made their fans happy.
Okeke posted: “First official match! I feel great to record a winning debut with Madrid in Spain on my first professional game. This means a lot to me. Thanks to the fans and kudos to my team’s fighting spirit against Real Betis. Looking forward to more wins this season.”
