Osimhen Dedicates First Super Eagles’ Goal To God

Lille Metropole of France striker, Victor Osimhen has dedicated his first ever goal for the Super Eagles to God, as the youngster hinted that he was able to convert a penalty against Ukraine due to divine guidance.

Osimhen struck Nigeria’s second goal in a 2-2 draw away to Ukraine in Tuesday’s international friendly match at Dnirpo-Arena, and the Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup top scorer admitted he was thrilled with his achievement.

Although he could not net from open play, relying on a spot kick won by Samuel Kalu to make hay, Osimhen admitted it was a great way to open his scoring haul with the Nigerian senior national team.

He went on to the efforts of all players in the Eagles’ squad, who had praised for putting up spirited efforts, but admitted giving up a two-goal lead and settling for a draw was painful for them all.

After netting 11 minutes before half-time, Osimhen continued exerting pressure on the Ukrainian defence and dropping deep to get passes from the midfielders, before eventually stepping off to allow Girondions-Bordeaux of France striker, Josh Maja get his Eagles’ debut in the 93rd minute.

Osimhen excitedly took to social media afterwards, with plaudits for his teammates, aspirations for the Eagles’ future and thanks to God for making his goal possible, as he posted: ”Good team performance. GOD is the greatest. we move.”
