Girondins-Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu has heaped praises on his fellow-Super Eagles’ rookies, Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze, as he says he has been able to familiarize himself with them both within such a short time.
After starting alongside Osimhen and Chukwueze for the Super Eagles in Tuesday’s international friendly against Ukraine, Kalu is exuding confidence that they will all be an unstoppable trio in days to come.
The former KAA Gent of Belgium youngster added that Osimhen and Chukwueze posses great qualities that complement his game, with their skills, vision, pace and strength standing them out as good forwards that can help Nigeria to greater moments of glory in days to come.
He, however, admitted that they all still need to add goals scoring to their attributes, as he recalled how he, in particular missed a sitter against Ukraine, and felt the whole forward line could have been better had they been precise in their finishing in Tuesday’s 2-2 draw.
Nonetheless, Kalu, who played a role in Nigeria’s first goal and won the penalty that Osimhen scored for the Eagles’ second on the night, took positives from the fact that they all young, still learning and have time to improve on their current skills, which he says include the ability to run with the ball and make decoy darts to distract the opposition, in order to create space for others.
Kalu told Owngoalnigeria.com: ”I had fun playing with them because we complement each other. It’s the same with anybody that is selected by the coach. Teams will find it hard to stop us if we continue playing like we did in the first half.
“Osimhen is never tired of running and Chukwueze can equally run and create space like me. Maybe we need to add goals to our combination for it to be more effective. We keep learning.”
