Collins: I Must Be Very Alert Playing In Bundesliga

SC Paderborn of Germany defender, Jamilu Collins has confessed that he is not finding it easy playing in the German Bundesliga, as he says he has realized that he has to be more alert and work extra hard in order to keep himself above board.

After starring for the three seasons in the German lower division, following his European breakthrough in Croatia, Collins has admitted that he is now facing the toughest stage of his club career, as the Bundesliga has turned out to be a different kettle of fish for him.

However, the Super Eagles’ left-back says he is adapting very fast and added that he is happy to finally settle down to make the best of his Bundesliga debut season, from which he hopes to get the best personal scoredcard for him and collective marks with his team.

The dark-skinned declared further that he has already become a better defender than he was last year, before his club gained promotion to the Bundesliga at the end of the past season and the former Rijeka fast-rising star also acknowledged that graduating with Paderborn the third division to the top-flight in only three years has taught him several useful lessons.

He specifically pointed out the fast pace and high level of concentration that is needed to play well in the Bundesliga, but interjected that he is glad that he has adapted very quickly, which has also rubbed out on his form with the Nigerian national team.

Collins told Owngoalnigeria.com: “The Bundesliga is different from the second division in several ways. You have to be ready to run at any moment and also be on alert to keep the attackers who you’re up against in check. I am still adjusting to the demands to be honest.

“For me I have picked valuable lessons from the various levels I have played in Germany and it has helped in shaping me. In the Bundesliga it’s different and hopefully I will use what I have learnt here in international games for the good ‎of the Super Eagles in our subsequent games.”
