Hearts of Scotland striker, Uche Ikpeazu is at the centre of another storm over racism, as he came under verbal abuse from opposing fans during the Edinburgh derby against Hibernian last weekend in the Scottish Premiership, after which the attack continued on social media video.
Hibernian confirmed that they are aware of a vlog video, in which a spectator is heard calling Ikpeazu a ‘monkey’ and The Hibs disclosed that they have already launched an investigation to apprehend the supporter for aiming racist abuse at the Hearts forward during Sunday’s game.
Officials at Hibernian added that the YouTube fan video has been passed on to the club’s security team and they will begin the process of identifying the supporter responsible for the rank, which is said to have flared after Ikpeazu scored an equaliser in the game at Easter Road, which Hearts then went on to win 2-1.
The Hibs promised that they will get to the root of the matter, with an official statement by the club adding: “Hibernian Football Club condemns any form of racist behaviour. We are aware of the clip in question and will be reviewing it with our safety and security team.”
