Manchester United of England striker, Odion Jude Ighalo’s sizzler against LASK Linz of Austria has been cited among the top-10 goals of the immediate past season’s UEFA Europa League, megasportsarena.com reports.
Ighalo got the nod from the European football governing body’s technical observers, who agreed that the former Super Eagles’ star’s stunning effort against LASK in the first leg of their round of 16 fixture at Linzer Stadion, Linz was good enough to make the cut.
The goal came 28 minutes into the game on March 12, when the 31-yearold hitman, who is on loan from Shanghai Shenhua of China, broke the deadlock with a magnificent stunner, after he controlled the ball three times inside the box before firing home accurately under the cross bar.
Incidentally, that same effort, which was one of five he scored for The Red Devils in the first two months of his arrival from Shanghai, was voted United’s Goal of the Month for March 2020; and he netted a total of two goals with an assist during five appearances in the Europa League but he could not take his side beyond the quarter-finals’ stage.
Ighalo has now been named to the best 10 goals of the second-tier continental competition along with equally brilliant strikes from Wahbi Khazri, Galeno, Manuel Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Ruben Neves, Claudiu Keșerü, Romelu Lukaku, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Gabriel Martinelli.
