Former Nigeria international, Henry Nwosu, has given reasons why Austin Eguavoen and Emmanuel Amuneke failed to deliver a World Cup ticket for the country.
According to Nwosu, the coaches and the players had no time to blend well and were in a hurry to get the expected results.
“In Nigeria, we still have good coaches. Eguavoen-Amuneke was the best option for that assignment but unfortunately, they had many disturbing issues that would have helped them actualise their dreams.
“For me, I will not blame the coaches. I will attribute everything to the limited time of their preparations and the way the assignment was executed. In any situation, there’s always a ‘scapegoat’. The bulk of the blames would always be on someone’s head.
“It’s unfortunate we couldn’t qualify for the World Cup in spite of the resources at our disposal. The players involved can never be happy so also the technical crew. Every stakeholder is affected by this mess and the earlier the better we put our house in order against the future re-occurrence,” Nwosu told sportinglife.ng.
